Tried out the Welby Arms last Friday lunchtime and would highly recommend it. The whole place is comfy and clean with a lovely setting and outdoor area. Two real fires on the go - so it has my vote! We enjoyed the real ale choice and the food was excellent - I had a really nicely done, home-cooked chilli with lots of trimmings and proper garlic bread and my partner had hake. Menu-wise a slightly more imaginative veggie choice would be good, but otherwise it was spot on. And you definitely have to try the chocolate torte - rich, dense and melt-in-the-mouth! It was nice to be able to eat in the relaxed bar area as well as the restaurant. Friendly landlord, too. Will definitely be back...

Very friendly service from all the staff and the landlord. Rooms good size, comfortable and well heated. Varied menu: food was good quality and ample portions. Adnams Broadside on draught. Good experience. Recommended.
