What they say
Georgian double-fronted, covered in wisteria and in the gorgeous, untouched village of Denham, The Swan Inn is in a unique position. The pub feels secluded and peaceful, yet is only minutes from the London suburbs and two motorways!

Inside, there is a large log fire for those cold winter months; a private dining room for cosy dinners or business meetings and hidden out back is a sunny, protected terrace and gardens large enough to lose your children in.

Whilst still most definitely a pub, the scrumptious food has a strong following. Wonderfully fresh, seasonal produce sets off rich reduced sauces and unusual twists on old favourites. The special’s board changes daily and takes advantage of the best the markets have to offer.

Be prepared for great service and a smattering of fun and from our happy team. In a nutshell: It’s like coming home, but we do the washing up!

Good Pub Guide Recommended

Handsome and civilised dining pub in pretty village; stylish furnishings in several bars, open fires, interesting food, and fine choice of drinks
Handsome, Georgian pub in a pretty village and particularly popular for its fresh, interesting bar food. The rooms are stylishly furnished with a nice mix of antique and old-fashioned chairs and solid tables, individually chosen pictures on the cream and warm green walls, rich heavily draped curtains, inviting open fires, newspapers to read and fresh flowers. Courage Best, Rebellion IPA, and Wadworths 6X on handpump, 21 european wines by the glass, plus nine pudding wines and a good choice of liqueurs; piped music. The extensive garden is floodlit at night, and leads from a sheltered terrace with tables to a more spacious lawn; the wisteria is lovely in May. It can get busy at weekends and parking may be not be easy then.

Good Pub Guide Food

Impressive bar food using seasonal produce includes rabbit rillettes with home-baked rosemary focaccia, duck livers and hearts with crispy bacon and dandelion and gooseberry salad, beer-battered haddock, free-range chicken tagine with fig couscous and toasted almonds, and gurnard fillet with flageolet bean, chorizo and roast tomato cassoulet.

Visited Wednesday lunchtime in October 2009 when the Swan was busy though there were a few spare tables. Now more a restaurant than a pub with food prices to match as most main courses between £12 and £17 (Sausage (x3) and mash was £12.50) though very good quality. Service was varied with some staff very friendly, attentive and efficient though one individual kept forgetting items requested (e.g. requests for tap water and the bill). Although this is not a pub for just a pint they did serve well kept Rebellion IPA.
