Civilised pleasantly updated 18th-c roadside dining inn, smallish bar on left with big sash windows and chunky farmhouse furniture on dark boards, smaller low-ceilinged public bar with flagstones and good log fire, two stripped-stone dining rooms on right, friendly neatly dressed staff, good choice of enjoyable generous food (not Sun evening) from lunchtime baguettes up, Palmers and a couple of guests, summer farm cider, good wines by the glass; piped music, TV, darts and board games; children welcome, dogs in bar (resident bedlington terriers), terrace and garden behind, car park across road, five bedrooms, open all day Sun (till 7pm in winter)
