Bustling, well run local with beamed rooms, four real ales, well liked food and seats in attractive garden
Good Pub Guide Recommended
Popular and welcoming, this 16th-c thatched pub is run by hands-on licensees and their friendly staff. The atmospheric bar and dining room are heavily beamed and timbered, there’s a woodburning stove and an open fire, all sorts of wooden dining chairs around tables of every size on bare floorboards, and a comfortable sofa and armchairs. Adnams Southwold, Morlands Old Speckled Hen, Timothy Taylors Landlord and Woodfordes Wherry on handpump, eight wines by the glass, Aspall’s cider and cocktails; they hold a music and beer festival in May. Terracing has picnic-sets and the garden is pretty. The pub is handy for the Icknield Way.
