We live in the village of Farnsfield and regularly eat at the Plough. Bob, who runs the place is friendly and helpful. We have had some lovely meals there and on occasions attended the pub quiz on a Monday night, which is great fun. Over the years the price of a meal has increased and is now not as good value as it used to be but the quality and quantity of the food is always excellent.

Infuriated! Just been for a meal with my Dad at the Plough in Farnsfield, the food and service was good until the bill came! I had ordered from the menu 2 x ploughman’s mixed grill, on the menu for £8.95. The bill charged me £11.50 when I queried this I was told they don’t do the ploughman’s mixed grill anymore only the 20oz mixed grill, if I had wanted the 20oz mixed grill for £11.50 I would have ordered that! At no point I was told when ordering or when we discussed/commented/joking about the 20oz mixed grill, did he say that’s what we had or was the only one they now did. The customer service was appalling the bloke behind the bar didn’t apologise, just started throwing things around asked me what I wanted to do, of which I said I’m only paying for what I ordered and what is advertised on the menu. The card machine was dumped in front of me and my bank card thrown back down on the bar, whilst he slammed order pads and menus around and started putting stickers on the menus to block out the price!! Not my issue if you can’t manage your own menus/staff I would not recommend it to anyone!
