Worth a Visit

Pretty 16th-c pub handy for Weald & Downland Open Air Museum; all sorts of light and dark wood tables and dining chairs on polished wooden floors, flagstones or carpet, some country knick-knacks, open fires and woodburner, Fullers London Pride, Harveys Best and a summer guest, several wines by the glass, well liked food from good lunchtime sandwiches up, friendly service, daily papers and board games, maybe summer table tennis; background music; children welcome, plenty of seats under parasols on terrace and in walled garden

Lovely spot. Well kept real ale. Food is ok. Unfortunately, the service is not great and there is a rather unwelcoming, take-it-or-leave-it approach from the staff. With so many good 'main entry' pubs within a short hop of here, they really need to up their game. If the service were improved and they went that extra few yards in the kitchen to give the impression they really care, it could be so much better.

Visited for dinner 30 March 2011. Good food, rather slow service, not terribly friendly welcome. Definitely not as good as GPG main entry Fox Goes Free just up the road so OK as a lucky dip.
