17th-c inn with two linked beamed and carpeted areas, cosy and spotless, with well kept ales such as Acorn, Bradfield and Peak, good range of enjoyable reasonably priced food all day, good house wine, quick friendly service, two gas woodburners, lots of photographs, toby jugs and brassware, back dining room; piped music, TV, and they may swipe your credit card before running a tab; children welcome in restaurant, dogs in bar, ten bedrooms, open all day

The pub with atmosphere as soon as you walk through the door. Food is excellent, beer good, staff very friendly, and accommodation brilliant.
