Handsome late 18th-c red-brick building (former customs house) in waterfront development, big-windowed high-ceilinged rooms with bare boards, nautical prints and photographs on pastel walls, coal-effect gas fires, good range of Fullers/Gales ales, well liked good value food all day (breakfast from 9am), good prompt service, stairs up to carpeted more restauranty floor with similar décor; piped music, machines and can get very busy; children allowed until 8pm (welcome upstairs after that), disabled facilities, picnic-sets out by water
