Lucky Dip

Lovely old timbered hotel on famous cobbled street with civilised antiques-filled bar, Victorian gothick carved chairs, older but plainer oak seats, huge working inglenook with massive bressumer, Fullers, Greene King and Harveys, good selection of wines and malt whiskies, short bar menu, more elaborate restaurant choices; piped music; children welcome, seats on small back terrace, bedrooms, open all day

I had the absolute pleasure of staying here a couple of years ago. It has so many character features, from wonky little doors to dark beamed ceilings and roaring fire places. The bedroom carried on the theme with a 4 poster bed, hung with luxurious drapes. The service and drinks were good too! Book in for the weekend if you have a special occasion to celebrate or deserve a real treat.
