Good Pub Guide Recommended
Readers enjoy the gently relaxing atmosphere at this pretty 18th-c village pub which is handily placed for walks in the Ribble Valley. It's split into several little neatly kept cream-painted bars and dining rooms, each with a warming coal fire and good solid wood furnishings on new wood floors. Staff and other customers are chatty and welcoming; darts and pool; two dining rooms. The friendly landlord keeps a range of five ales, usually Bowland Hen Harrier, Moorhouses Premier and guests such as Bowland Sky Dancer, over a dozen malts and several wines by the glass. There are picnic-sets out on cobbles at the front and in the sunny back garden.
Good Pub Guide Food
Using meat reared at a farm in nearby Longridge and vegetables grown in Longridge too, the reasonably priced tasty food includes lunchtime sandwiches and ploughman's, duck breast terrine, potted morecambe bay shrimps, lancashire cheese and onion pie, lancashire hotpot, fish and chips, and grilled chicken breast marinated in garlic, lemon and herbs with garlic mayonnaise.
