Lucky Dip

This basic unpretentious tavern is usually packed, spartan front room leading to cosy low-ceilinged bar with open fire and high-backed black settles, half a dozen ales, decent malt whiskies, short choice of simple lunchtime food, friendly efficient service, upstairs Dryden Room often less crowded (children welcome here lunchtime), jazz Sun evening; lots of lively well documented history inc Regency bare-knuckle prize-fights when know as the Bucket of Blood, open all day

Cracking little pub in the heart of Covent Garden. Enjoyed a late pint there last night. Not too busy and good selection of real ales.

Without doubt one of the best pubs in central London - olde worlde charm mixed with good beer and good atmosphere
