Best country pub in Warwickshire... by far!

Great beer (Purity Gold)! Great food (more vegetarian choices please)! Just the place to sit and cosy by the fire on a cold winter night or sit out in the beer garden on a glorious summer evening.

After reading the existing comment I booked this pub to celebrate my partners birthday with some intrepidation.

In short, the food was fantastic! We agreed - the best pub food either of us had eaten before. The bill came as a pleasant surprise too!

We were however disappointed by the service. We asked for a table in the bar instead of the restaurant, the staff were obliging and showed us to an unlaid table in the corner. One side plate and various bits of cutlery were then brought over and left on the table, for us to lay ourselves it appeared. Course after course were brought out and at no occassion were we asked if we would like another drink, even though our glasses appeared empty. In addition to this, at no stage during the meal did any of the staff check if we were happy with the meal. We would have liked more gravy!

It appeared obvious that all staff concentrated their attention on the restaurant, regular customers or customers who appeared wealthy!! When new diners took the table next to ours, they were asked twice during the starter if everything was OK with their meal! Not once throughout our meal were we asked!

In terms of food we both could not recommend The King's Head highly enough. In terms of service, you'd be better off visiting a take away!

i am not suprised you were charged that much, yes the pub is lovely from the exterier, the inside has been let go a bit, the tables and chairs which were once i guess old world with charachter are now just old and falling to pieces, the pub smells, the service is abbismal. thats only as the owners do not want to spend money on wages and therefore only have 1 full time member of staff. i assume the kitchen is also understaffed as food sometimes takes a while although gorgeous when it arrives. its a shame this pub has been so badly run in the last few years. i understand times are hard and spending money is difficult but its a must for a business to move forward. the toilets smell, the garden is beautiful and would be lovely to sit in in the summer, appart once again for the lack of money being spent, the outside tables are again falling to pieces and are covered most of the time in bird droppings. this pub is probably one of the most expencive places to drink and eat in warwickshire and im afraid has far better and cheaper compatition in the near area.
so 7.40 for 2 pints of soda and lime is not suprising when a pint costs the wrong side of £3.50 and wine im sorry is £6 a glass,at a time when pubs are dropping prices and therefore dropping thier profit margins, the kings head is going the wrong way.
would i recommend the kings head?? yes i would if only for the food and how lovely the building is. not for the service by basil and cybil... find a clean table outside and enjoy the sun away from the madness that is the kings head

We were suprised to read that you were charged that amount too! we apologise for this obvious error and would like to make amends please contact either peter or louise who would be pleased to reinburse you!
The KIngs Head

Make sure that when you visit this pub you are not the designated driver. I ordered two pints of lime and soda and was charged a staggering £7.40! Daylight robbery.
