This well run, traditional pub is always deservedly busy with cheerful customers keen to enjoy the real ales and generously served food. The hands-on landlord and his staff are friendly and helpful and the neatly carpeted low-beamed bar has leather tub chairs and a couple of sofas in front of the inglenook log fire, daily papers, board games and Fullers London Pride, Sharps Doom Bar and Timothy Taylors Landlord on handpump and ten wines by the glass, Several areas, with a gentle décor mainly in muted terracotta or pale ochre, include two back dining areas, one of which opens on to a sheltered terrace with teak furniture, and a lawn with picnic-sets beyond.
