Friendly, comfortable pub with plenty of locals and visitors, real ales, popular food and seats outside; good bedrooms
Good Pub Guide Recommended
As a visitor, you'll feel genuinely welcomed in this bustling pub by both the long-serving, enthusiastic licensees and the cheerful, friendly locals. The neatly carpeted low-beamed bar has leather tub chairs and a couple of chesterfield sofas in front of the inglenook log fire, daily papers, board games and Bowman Wallops Wood, Sharps Doom Bar and Timothy Taylors Landlord on handpump and a dozen wines by the glass. The various areas, with understated décor mainly in muted terracotta or pale ochre, include two back dining sections, one of which opens on to a sheltered terrace with teak furniture, and a lawn with picnic-sets beyond. The neat bedrooms are in two barn conversions.
