Good chatty mix at this friendly relaxed country tavern, five well kept local ales tapped from casks, summer farm cider, well liked food (all day Fri-Sun) from hearty pub dishes to specials using local produce inc own herbs and vegetables, smart stable bar sitting comfortably alongside cosy and unassuming original one, some colourful paintings, Archie the pub dog, no mobile phones (£1 fine in charity box); children (under-14s in stable bar) and dogs welcome, hitching post for horses, heated terrace, peaceful lawn, play equipment, open all day

The perfect pub. Excellent beers served directly from the cask, very good service, large well kept and presented outdoor facilities & pleasant internal bars plus a heated terrace. I most certainly recommend the Palmers 200 ale. Well worth the trek down some narrow lanes to find this establishment. The entry in the 2011 Good Pub Guide can be taken at face value in respect of this pub.
