Good Pub Guide Recommended
The characterfully timeless interior of this gracious old inn is kept spotless. Past the hot stove in the entrance area, its rambling, low-beamed and thick-walled rooms are nicely decorated with antique settles and an old sofa, old clocks, portraits, hats and tins hanging from the walls, and fresh flowers. A fine antique fireback is built into one wall, perhaps originally from the formidable fireplace in the back bar, which houses a collection of stone cats as well as cheerful winter log fires. You might find a harpist playing here on certain days. From the family's own Great Orme brewery, a couple of miles away, come Great Orme and Groes Ale (brewed for the pub), and several bottled Great Orme beers too, also 15 wines by the glass; piped music. There are several options for dining, including an airy conservatory and a smart white linen dining restaurant. The idyllic back garden has flower-filled hayracks and lovely verdant views, and there are more seats on a narrow flower-decked roadside terrace. Well equipped bedroom suites (some have terraces or balconies) have gorgeous views. They also rent out a well appointed wooden cabin, and a cottage in the historic centre of Conwy. Dogs are allowed in some bedrooms and in certain areas of the bar.
