Winterbourne Arms, Winterbourne, Berkshire, RG20 8BB – The Good Pub Guide

Good Pub Guide Recommended

Bustling village pub with quite a choice of bar food, real ales, lots of wines by the glass, and a large landscaped garden
Handy for the M4, this is a pretty black and white village pub.The traditionally furnished bars have stools along the counter, a mix of pine dining chairs and tables, a collection of old irons around the big fireplace and early prints and old photographs of the village on the pale washed or exposed stone walls; piped music. Big windows take in peaceful views over rolling fields. Ramsbury Gold and a beer brewed by them for the pub called Winterbourne Whistle Wetter on handpump and 20 wines by the glass including sparkling and sweet wines. There are seats outside in the large landscaped side garden and pretty flowering tubs and hanging baskets. The surrounding countryside here is lovely, with nearby walks to Snelsmore Common and Donnington Castle.

Good Pub Guide Food

As well as sandwiches, the varied bar food includes filled baguettes, duckling rillettes with red onion marmalade, a pie of the week, deep-fried fish and chips, mixed mushroom risotto, free-range pork chop on bubble and squeak with a grain mustard sauce, and calves liver and bacon with onion gravy.

Bar food times: 12 - 2.30, 6 - 10; 12 - 3, 6 - 9 Sun

Lovely pub exactly as described in the Guide. We visited on a hot day and sat outside with our dog who was made very welcome in the garden. Excellent food. Not too easy to find, but definitely worth finding.
