Most are here for the short choice of interesting modern bar food (not Mon-Weds lunchtimes), but it's also worth exploring this carefully refurbished Victorian gin palace with its opulent art nouveau interior, elaborately patterned tiles, ceilings and stained-glass, two exquisitely tiled pillars, drawings of nubile young women, small coal fire, four changing real ales from splendid marble and mahogany bar counter, unusual bottled beers, several wines by glass; children welcome till 7pm, open all day (till midnight Fri, Sat)
