Quirky little local with inviting old sofa, armchairs, horsebrasses and log fire in cottagey bar, extraordinary range of drinks including 48 wines by the glass, 136 malt whiskies, over 200 different spirits, Buntingford Highwayman and a couple of guests (apparently tapped from big casks behind bar, but actually gently pumped), Aspall's farm cider, fresh flowers and silver candelabra, old-fashioned prints on brown ply panelling, another log fire in old-world dining area serving traditional food; children welcome, dogs in bar, well spaced picnic-sets, weeping willow and fruit trees in garden behind car park, open all day (cl Sun evening)
