Pie shop with popular pub/restaurant behind, warren of private little period-feel alcoves and other areas on various levels, good home-made food all day inc wide choice of pies such as venison and wild boar, cheery knowledgeable service, small bar with four well kept ales inc Wadworths 6X, Weston's cider, good wines, children welcome in restaurant area, open all day (cl Sun and bank holidays)

My family and i have been going to Sweeney and Todds since i was 9 years of age.
I am now 36 years of age and i love the ambience its not spoilt commercial and all the ingredients are fresh and made and baked on the premises.

There is a lot of love time and effort to making this independant restaurant work and it does work, its family run and they have consistent high standards.

In the land of faceless regurgitated chains this place stands out as unique friendly niche and moreish.

I shouldnt say this but i wish they were part of a chain as i live in Bournemouth and its always my first port of call when i am in Reading.

It should even be 'By Royal Appointment' read into that as you will......

Went there for a pie last week in the evening. Its gets busy so arrive early. The lamb and mint pie was
nice and I ordered some side vegetables that were a bit soft for my liking. The Wadsworth 6X
was very well kept. Nice busy atmosphere. You can easily walk past it as it looks
like a bread shop from the outside!

Lovely choice of pies - there's something for everyone. They are really delicious, served quickly and hot! Seating is fab
