Interesting waterside pub with appealing seafaring bric-a-brac, five well kept beers and enjoyable food
A fascinating jumble of seafaring memorabilia (anything from ships' wheels to stuffed seagulls) fills the snug quarry-tiled old interior of this cheery bubbling place - no matter what the season, it seems to brim with customers enjoying themselves. Ringwood Best and Fortyniner are well kept alongside three guests such as Fullers London Pride, Goddards Fuggle Dee Dum and Marstons Pedigree; games machine and piped music. In a super position, perched on the wall just above the beach, tables outside on a terrace have lovely views over the sea. There are strolls westwards from here along the coast towards the Botanic Garden as well as heftier hikes up on to St Boniface Down and towards the eerie shell of Appuldurcombe House.
