Good Pub Guide Recommended
Smart young waitresses work their way through the attractively laid out areas of this imposing black and white pub. The interior has quite a 1930s feel with its quirky domed stained-glass skylight, parquet flooring, oak panelling, leather tub chairs and red floor tiles; daily papers. The cushioned leatherette bar counter (cheerful with fresh flowers) serves Bass, Greene King IPA, Thwaites Original, a couple of guests such as Bank Top Flat Cap and Pavillion on handpump, draught Fransizkaner wheat beer and good wines by the glass. TV, piped music and board games. Heavy wood tables out on a spacious and attractive front terrace with pretty flower beds and a water feature have good views to the moors beyond Nelson and Colne.
