Plenty of space for drinking and dining in airy, refurbished dining pub with modern food and local ales
Good Pub Guide Recommended
Smartly refurbished, this is a stylish place at the end of the high street with an emphasis on dining though they do keep Woodfordes Wherry and a guest from Milton on handpump and several wines by the glass, served by courteous staff. The contemporary wood-clad extension has huge windows, elegant wooden or leather dining chairs around polished tables on floorboards and leads back to a bar area where there are sofas in a cosy nook by the stairs. The two-level restaurant looks into the open kitchen and has mushroom-coloured button-back wall banquettes, pendant lights and photographs of Rupert Brooke as a child. Stairs lead upstairs to a club room with direct access to a roof terrace.
