Welcoming and relaxed pub, with well liked food and real ales
Good Pub Guide Recommended
The hub of the village and warmly friendly to all, this is a small, traditional pub surrounded by walks and cycle paths in attractive countryside. The carpeted bar, with a relaxed atmosphere, horsebrasses on black beams and paintings by local artists on the walls, rambles around beyond a big stone fireplace to a snug room, behind which more candle-lit tables can be found. St Austell Tribute, Sharps Doom Bar, Skinners Betty Stogs and a guest ale on handpump, as well as good wines by the glass and farm cider. There are picnic-sets in front of the building and more seats in the garden.
Good Pub Guide Food
As well as daily specials, the reliably good food includes sandwiches, scallops with chorizo, sherry and cream, whole baked goats cheese with onion marmalade, beer-battered cod and chips, mushroom stroganoff, duck leg confit with tomato and red onion reduction, haddock, lemon sole and monkfish meunière, and puddings.
