Informal dining pub run by local farmers using seasonal organic produce inc properly hung home-reared steaks (farm shop too), mainly scrubbed-wood furnishings on bare boards or parquet, animal pictures for sale, log fire on left and little maze of dark pews, well kept Arkells ales, organic wines, maybe home-made elderflower cordial, decent whiskies, charity shelves and window sills of paperbacks; children and dogs welcome, picnic-sets dotted through a bit of a copse with more on grass, smarter modern tables on front decking, cheap serviceable bedrooms in back cabins, pretty village below Ridgeway and White Horse
