Worth a Visit

Spacious pub-hotel, neat, light and airy, with good well presented food from snacks up, efficient cheerful staff, well kept ales including a house beer brewed by Coors, lovely Severn views from roomy conservatory, bar with central woodburner (dogs welcome here); big terraced garden, seven comfortable bedrooms, good breakfast, open all day weekends in summer

We dropped in on the Riverside during the mid/late afternoon of this recent August Bank Holiday Monday having quickly consulted our 2009 GPG book on the way home from a damp mid-Wales. Despite the disappointing weather, the car park was reasonably full and the hostelry pleasantly buzzing, both inside and out.
We ordered drinks and some bar snacks. The food seemed more than 'limited' as described in the current GPG entry, with a snacks menu, a main meal menu and even a dessert menu. I would describe the choice as being 'sensible' - not a mind-boggling array of specials and such.
The food arrived in reasonable time and was well-presented and tasty. Maybe the food and drink was a touch on the pricey side, but the setting is very pleasant and the staff were efficient and good-humoured. A most enjoyable visit - we'll certainly consider a repeat visit when in the area.
