Please note that this not !! a dog friendly pub.
Brilliant way to finish a walk around Crome Hill & Parkhurst Hill on a glorious Easter Sunday!!!
This pub is a gem - a real pub with real ale (& Pork Pies!!!). You must take away one of the boxed selections of Ken's Ales: Quiet Woman Stout, Headless Ale & not forgetting Nipper Ale (about Ken's legendary dog - read the poems either side off the real coal fire!!).
Like the fire, this pub sis full of old fashioned warmth & character (just like Ken!). We'll be back soon Ken!
Wonderful pub for the locals with an amazing atmosphere. Can be spoilt sometimes by non local people especially the noisy ones who bring in their loud radios and ruin everything.
I have been going to this pub for over 20 years, and it has not changed a bit. Perfectly kept beer in unpretentious surroundings, friendly locals in a fabulous setting. No gastropub this, but you can get egg and chips (a pickled egg in a bag of crisps), wonderful pork pies with pickled onions, even a flapjack. Long may it continue unchanged.
One of my favourite pubs. Stuck in a time warp, this pub is unspoilt by progress. You can always get a decent pint and, unusually, mild.
The main GPG review mentions snacks and meals. Ken does a great pork pie but that's as close as you'll get to a meal.
