Good Pub Guide Recommended

Lively bar with plenty of chatty locals in popular small hotel near the sea and fine cliff walks
There's always a good mix of both locals and visitors in the bustling small bar of this popular 17th-c inn – and many of our readers enjoy staying overnight, too. There are low beams, flagstones as well as carpeting, some exposed stone, a big log fire and a relaxed atmosphere; the lounge has some interesting antique local photographs. You can eat in the bar or the 'Captain's Cabin' - a little room where everything is shrunk to scale (old oak chest, model sailing ship, even the prints on the white stone walls). St Austell Tribute and Sharps Doom Bar and Cornish Coaster on handpump, a good wine list and several whiskies; cribbage and dominoes. There are seats in the terraced garden and splendid clifftop walks all around.

Good Pub Guide Food

Bar food includes sandwiches, crab soup, fishcakes, vegetarian pasta, ham and eggs, battered fish of the day, and evening duck breast with herb mash and red wine and grain mustard jus.

Instantly made to feel welcome by the landlord and customers.
Good ale but lunchtime food was a little dissapointing
Lovely location and deserves main entry
