Good Pub Guide Recommended
Modern pub in great position overlooking the bay, reliable food all day, good range of drinks, obliging staff
The views alone are reason for seeking out this efficiently run place, which is much more special than its bungalow exterior suggests. Its light and airy open-plan interior has big windows looking far across the bay and to the Great Orme. Extending around the three long sides of the bar counter, the mix of seating and well spaced tables, oriental rugs on pale stripped boards, shelves of books, welcoming coal fires, profusion of pictures, big pot plants, careful lighting and dark green school radiators are all typical of the pubs in this small chain. Besides Flowers Original, Great Orme Best and Thwaites Original, you'll find three changing guests such as Black Sheep Best Bitter, Conwy Rampart and Timothy Taylors Landlord on handpump. They also have well chosen good value wines including 20 by the glass, and more than 60 malts; board games and piped music. Outside there are sturdy tables and chairs on a side terrace and a lower one, by a lawn with picnic-sets. We're surprised we haven't had recent feedback from readers on what has always been a much-liked and well run pub; more reports please.Good Pub Guide Food
Served all day, the reliable and much liked food from a changing menu could typically include substantial sandwiches, ploughman's with welsh cheeses, soup, starters and light dishes such sardines fried in lemon and chilli oil, roasted fennel and orange salad, or menai mussels in white wine and garlic sauce, main courses like braised half shoulder of welsh lamb, spicy moroccan chicken and chickpea casserole, coconut crumbed salmon, and wild mushroom, spinach and leek shepherd's pie; puddings such as white chocolate and raspberry trifle.
