Good Pub Guide Recommended
Beautifully placed waterside inn with seats on long floating pontoon, lots of atmosphere in beamed and flagstoned rooms, and some sort of food all day in summer
The position of this lovely medieval thatched pub is very special, and in fine weather you can sit with your drink on the long floating pontoon and watch children crabbing and visiting dinghies pottering about in the sheltered waterfront. Inside, several rambling, interconnecting rooms have low wooden ceilings (mind your head on some of the beams), beautifully polished big flagstones, cosy alcoves with leatherette benches built into the walls, old race posters, model boats in glass cabinets, and three large log fires in high hearths (to protect them against tidal floods). St Austell HSD, Tinners and Tribute and a guest such as Bass on handpump, and a dozen wines by the glass. It does get very crowded and parking is difficult at peak times.Good Pub Guide Food
Good, popular bar food includes sandwiches, filled baked potatoes, soup, moules marininère , langoustines in garlic butter with sweet chilli mayonnaise, barbecue spare ribs (as a starter or main course), local pork sausages with red onion gravy, beer battered cod, spinach and mushroom macaroni with garlic bread, rib-eye steak, daily specials, and puddings like earl grey jelly with lemon granite and dark chocolate tart with white chocolate ice-cream and praline shards.
