Olde Trip to Jerusalem

Unusual rambling pub seemingly clinging to sandstone rock face (and some rooms actually burrowed into it), largely 17th c and a former brewhouse supplying the hilltop castle; downstairs bar carved into the rock with leatherette-cushioned settles built into dark panelling, tables on flagstones, rocky alcoves, Greene King, Nottingham and guests, good value food all day, efficient staff dealing well with busy mix of customers; little tourist shop with panelled walls soaring up into a dark stone cleft, cellar tours (must book); children welcome till 7pm, seats in snug courtyard, open all day (till midnight Fri, Sat)
