Lucky Dip

Charming old building with several cosy and interesting traditional linked areas, well kept Marstons-related ales, good choice of wines by the glass, bargain home-made food from good sandwiches up, low beams, bare boards or tiles, soft lighting, old local photographs, open fire; piped music and some live acoustic evenings, Sun quiz, no dogs; children till 7pm, roadside garden, open all day

Had 2 meals: one was ploughman's which had plenty of cheese and was generally tasty. The other was chicken, ham and leek pie with chips and veg. The chips were the most authentic home-made chips I've seen in a pub and were very nice. The pie was nothing special, quite bland in fact. The veg were cooked beautifully but were carrots and leeks! Would have been nice to have had a different veg as leeks were obviously in the pie.
Two other things - the rooms could do with redecorating as they seem coated in nicotine. And one of our glasses was dirty with lipstick on the rim.
