we went on the off chance on a Friday night. Every table was reserved but they squeezed us in. The pub is very old with wood fires in every room which gives it a warming welcome. The selection of beer was great. The food was very flavourful, I had rib eye steak which was cooked to perfection. My wife had the steak in ale pie which she loved. Their chips are homemade and yummy. Both meals came with a side salad which was nice and fresh. The service was great for such a busy pub. We will deffinatly be going back soon. We will reserve a table next time.

Went out at the last minute for a meal with 14 year old daughter and husband on Friday night. The place was packed! Every table was reserved, but they did manage to squeeze us in as there was still just over an hour to go for a group to arrive and we figured we could eat and be out in that time. I had the steak and ale pie and it was DELICIOUS! The meat was tender and flavourful, the pastry was perfect. The chips were some of the best I've ever had. Hubby's rib eye was so good, he couldn't stop raving about it. Daughter had the beef burger with cheddar and she said it was one of the best she'd ever had! Lovely old, pub with really friendly staff. While we were at the bar ordering food, the put out plates of food to share among the patrons. My only suggestion is if you're going on a Friday or Saturday...call ahead to reserve a table. You won't regret it!

Made an error on the star rating - should have been 4 stars but, unfortunately hit 1 star - many apologies. Is there any way of amending this?

Have visited this pub on a number of occasions on our journey from Lancashire to Telford and the food has always been consistently excellent with very friendly service. Well worth a visit.
