What they say
16th century country pub with large gardens, cosy bar and dining room, real ales, wines by the glass and excellent food

Well-run and friendly, The Lamb is popular for its good food and welcoming staff. It was originally two cottages and at its heart is the low-beamed bar with a log fire in the original inglenook fireplace, nice pubby furniture on the floor tiles, lots of old photographs of nearby Henley-on-Thames and various agricultural and other antique knick-knacks on the walls. Loddon Leaping Lamb, brewed exclusively for The Lamb plus 2-3 guest ales on handpump, ten wines by the glass and several malt whiskies; piped music. The dining room next to the bar is a cosy place for a meal. Outside is a large garden with woodland area, seats on a sizeable lawn and roaming chickens.

Four of us had dinner here last Friday - a most enjoyable experience. Imaginative menu with emphasis on home or locally sourced ingredients. Food generally well flavoured (although the rice-ball starter was a bit bland) and service attentive but discreet. Ambience delightful - everything you would expect from an ancient country pub. Beers include 'Leaping Lamb' - specially brewed for them by the local Lodden brewery.
Will certainly return!

We are regulars of The Lamb at Satwell and cannot believe the comments made by Gordon below - mind you coming from someone who can't even spell Brakspear what would you expect? The Lamb is always a warm and welcoming place and the beers are second to none as well as local, coming from the local Loddon brewery 3 miles away. The food is also excellent. It's a shame there are people like Gordon who clearly have no idea about good food and ale. Never mind, he can always go to Wetherspoons!

re lamb at satwell, called for lunch monday 4th oct, no soup, waited 30 mins for fish pie, tart and fries very average, ales from yorkshire not local like braksbeer, service curt, hawty, not welcoming, not a good experience,,contrast this with royal oak bovingdon green, excellent allround except no braksbeer ales ,, big mistake,,,,,,,gordon and helen maddocks

We popped in during a walk. We had a nice cup of coffee, soft drink. The food looked pretty good and the menu interesting. My wife said the coffee was especially good. At the bottom of the garden is a hen run - in fact they were around our feet by the tables at the back of the pub. BBQ's weather permitting on Saturdays.
