Some character but shabby decor. Special offer signs everywhere but the beer pricing here is outrageous. Would not pay these prices in Central London.

Very disappointing meal last Sunday (18/8/13). Slow service.(40 mins). Both our meals had congealed sauces. My 'sirloin' steak was inedible being mainly gristle, and my companions steak and ale pie had pastry as hard as wood .When I asked what vegetables were I got a puzzled look and a vague reply 'cabbage?' I asked for peas and carrots. They arrived in a bowl for both of us, but no serving spoon!
One of the staff asked how we enjoyed our meal.I told him, he shrugged. I ordered 2 coffees waited 20 minutes then asked another 'waiter'. He had the decency to apologize and let us have the coffees free of charge.
By the way, if you want to eat here, you have to order at the bar. They may not tell you this.

Tim and Michelle and their staff are very welcoming. Yates 'Holy Joe' and Otter Ale in top condition as well as a good choice of wines at not too silly prices. Food very popular and cheerily and quickly served. Excellent local pub serving regulars and visitors with equal customer service. Can thoroughly recommend.
