Green Man, Thriplow, Cambridgeshire, SG8 7RJ – The Good Pub Guide

Good Pub Guide Recommended

Comfortable and cheery with pubby food and changing ales
Run by a friendly, hands-on landlady, this is a cheerful village pub with honest home-cooked food and well kept beer. There are always plenty of customers and it's all comfortably laid out with modern tables and attractive high-backed dining chairs and pews; there are beer mats on the ceiling and champagne bottles on high shelves. Two arches lead through to a restaurant on the left. The regularly changing real ales might include Oakham Citra, Slaters Premium, Titanic Anchor Bitter and Woodfordes Wherry on handpump. There are tables in the pleasant garden and the vivid blue paintwork makes an excellent backdrop for the floral displays.

Good Pub Guide Food

Well liked bar food includes filled baguettes, warm potato and chorizo salad, omelettes, sausages with whole-grain mustard mash and onion gravy, goats cheese and red pepper pasta, salmon and prawn risotto, chicken, bacon, melted cheese and wholegrain mustard sauce, beer-battered cod and chips, and puddings like melting chocolate fondant and apple crumble.

Very friendly pub but has seen better days. We had our lunch (food was good) on a table on the green - lots of rubbish from the night before under the tables and benches. Plastic tablecloths badly tacked onto the ageing picnic benches. Everything looked like it could do with a good clean.

A friendly place thanks to gregarious bar staff and Mary the landlady. We enjoyed well kept beers and dinner by the fireside. Sunday lunch also a hit with all ages. Lovely walks nearby too.
