Good Pub Guide Recommended
Friendly new licensees have taken over this 16th-c pub and have opened up letting bedrooms. The traditional low-beamed lounge bar has an old-fashioned settle curving around a couple of venerable stripped tables on the chequerboard tiled floor, a winter open fire and a mix of pubby tables and chairs; there's also a small snug. The two dining rooms have open fireplaces and are furnished with settles and scrubbed pine tables. Adnams Bitter, Broadside and Explorer on handpump with seasonal beers tapped from the cask, 14 wines by the glass, local cider, good coffee and home-made soft drinks. Outside are two terraces (one for the morning and a suntrap evening one), both with pretty hanging baskets and seats under large parasols.
