Glasfryn, Mold, Wales, CH7 6LR – The Good Pub Guide

Good Pub Guide Recommended

Open-plan bistro-style pub with inventive, upmarket food available all day, nice décor, wide drinks choice

On warm days the large terrace in front of this excellent Brunning & Price pub makes an idyllic place to sit out by the wooden tables - you get sweeping views of the Clwydian Hills. Although the building is unassuming from outside, it is a really buzzing place run with considerable verve by enthusiastic and friendly staff. Open-plan rooms have both spaciousness and nice quiet corners, with an informal and attractive mix of country furnishings, and interesting decorations. Besides 25 wines by the glass, local apple juice, farm cider and around 100 whiskies, they've eight beers on handpump, with Facers Flintshire, Flowers Original, Purple Moose Snowdonia, Thwaites Original and Timothy Taylors Landlord, alongside swiftly changing guests like Adnams Broadside, Hawkshead Bitter and Sharps Doom Bar. Theatr Clwyd is just across the road.

Good Pub Guide Food

From a daily changing menu, the full choice of good, well prepared food is available all day and includes sandwiches, ploughman's, soup, starters and lighter dishes like sticky pork ribs or smoked salmon and avocado salad, and main courses such as beer-battered haddock, braised shoulder of lamb, or smoked haddock and salmon fishcakes; puddings such as lemon posset or dark chocolate tart.
