Fine half-timbered building based around medieval manorial hall, main half-panelled bar to right has log fire in huge sandstone fireplace, heavy beams, wheelbacks and other dining chairs around tables on flagstones, horsebrasses, Harveys, Larkins and Westerham ales, several wines by the glass, second similarly furnished dining room with another inglenook, room to left of entrance hall used more for drinking with woodburner, high-winged settles and other seats, enjoyable if not cheap food (not Sun evening), upstairs restaurant; children welcome, dogs in bar, seats in front on nicely planted gravel terrace, more in back covered area and lower terrace (300-year-old yew tree and modern sculpturing), open all day
