Worth a Visit

Thatched and beamed dining pub now under same owners as the Jack in the Green at Rockbeare; smartly refurbished interior with several different areas including raised dining part, woodburner in large stone fireplace, really good attractively presented food served by efficient friendly staff, four local ales including Otter, games room with pool and sports TV; children welcome, lovely cottagey garden with thousands of spring and summer flowers, country views

This pub is back with every intention of being in the guide. The service was excellent, the beer was perfect and the sea trout of the specials board was some of the best I have ever tasted. The slight delay in service was apologised for as soon as they realised we had waited a while (not long) for our food as they were in the middle of serving a large party when we arrived. It is nice to find staff who don't just expect you to wait as long as it takes without keeping you informed. The poached peaches for dessert and my friends dark chocolate mousse were perfect and a decent coffee to finish end a good priced well served lunch.

Suggest you try this pub again. It has recently been taken over by the best gastro pub in Exeter area (Jack in the Green). it reopened in August 2013 and is well worth a visit for a drink or a meal.

Oh dear!
PTR (Pub Themed Restaurant) for the over 60’s

After getting over the shock of the price of beer, it felt mighty uncomfortable if you weren’t eating and the background ‘elevator’ music was just plain annoying.
Not the easiest place to find, but wish we hadn’t bothered.
