we visited today for lunch....the belly pork was delicious , the so-called chips in the little bucket were disgusting.... over-fried scraps of hard pieces that in no way resembled chips...that we all know and love...what a let-down...
I got the impression that unless you were a regular you were not welcome. That is what we were made to feel. Our friends phoned to say they were help up on the M4 through a major accident, and the land lord curtly told us food finished at 2pm and they were not there all afternoon (saturday). Fortunately they arrived before 2pm so we did order but we were rushed, plates nearly taken away before we finished and not offered a dessert or coffee. We apologised for holding them up but did not get a reply and the door locked behind us. For a canalside pub they are missing a huge opportunity or just cannot be bothered. The food is pub standard and was the same price as the 4* Marriot hotel down the road where we went for coffee and were made very welcome.
I would not recommend the Dundas Arms if you are looking for a pleasant relaxed lunch. The pub looks tired inside and the ketchup bottles on every table summed it up. The Beer may be good but nothing else.
