Carefully extended 16th-c stone inn in quiet hamlet; bar with scrubbed tables and comfortable wicker-backed mahogany-look chairs on old black and red tiled floor, white-painted plaster on thick uneven stone walls, old print of John Bigg (supposed executioner of King Charles I and later known as the Dinton Hermit), huge inglenook fireplace, back dining area with similar furniture on quarry tiles, church candles, hundreds of wine bottles decorating walls and thick oak bar counter, Adnams, Batemans and Brakspears, decent choice of wines, fair range of bar food; well behaved children allowed, lots of garden picnic sets, bedrooms, open all day
