Good Pub Guide Recommended
Top marks once again from our readers for all aspects of this excellent pub; the hard-working Mainey family continue to welcome the cheerful crowds of both locals and visitors who fill their lovely inn. The bar has a contemporary colour scheme of dark reds and off whites with pleasant prints carefully grouped and lit; one area has chunky pine tables on flagstones, while another, with a log fire, has dark tables on plaid carpet. Partners Working Class Hero, Timothy Taylors Landlord, Treboom Yorkshire Sparkle Really Pale Ale and a guest ale on handpump, 30 wines by the glass and 15 malt whiskies. For meals, you can choose between a small candlelit olive-green bistro with nice tables, a long-case clock and a couple of paintings, and a more formal restaurant; background music. The garden has rattan sofas and tables on decking. This is a most enjoyable place to stay in cosy, country-style bedrooms. The village green is opposite.
