We had a very nice lunch while doing a walk in this area. We both had sandwiches at five pounds each. My wife had the brie and bacon ( brie very runny - lovely!) and I had ham and salad - nice ham lots of salad. Each came with a side salad and we thought both were good value. Friendly service - coffee comes in a cafeteria. They still have the 'flat' next to the pub at a reasonable ninety pounds per night including ingredients for you to make your own breakfast. The dinner menu looked good and prices reasonable.

Its a bit late for your 2010 edition perhaps but we think this place deserves to be elevated to a main entry. We stayed there a few weeks ago overnight. We were in the cottage which for ninety pounds - you get living room, kitchen, bedroom etc is pretty good. You have to be out by 10.30am by which time you have to have cooked your breakfast which is in the fridge! 1/2 loaf of bread four sausages, two tomatoes, four eggs , four rashers of bacon and mushrooms! Pint of milk etc. Nice ground coffee, marmalade and two bottles of water!

We had a nice meal overnight - they do a rotation beer which was excellent. Staff friendly and helpful

I had a seafood salad as a starter which had a lovely dressing on it good size. Squid, prawns and crayfish 6.00. I then had breast of chicken in a tomato honey and mustard sauce with rice. Very nice 11.50. My wife had the fishcake which was full of fish and a good size. She then followed with the haddock and chips which was also very good.

The pub has a good wine list we had a bottle of Grenache/Sirah twelve pounds.

We the finished with the trio of deserts which was also very good. Very nice presentation of the food.
