What they say
Enjoying a superb coastal location with unequalled sea views over Bembridge Ledge. This award winning hostelry is popular with both locals and visitors alike, where locally caught seafood can be enjoyed all year round. In fact, the lobster is caught daily by a local fisherman within sight of the pub and brought direct to the kitchen door so could not be fresher.

As well as the extensive menu available all year round there is an ever changing specials board featuring seasonal dishes complemented by real ales and an extensive wine list. With a traditional intimate beamed interior, open fireplaces and attractive patio area overlooking the sea it has all the ingredients for a relaxed and enjoyable experience whatever the weather. Its five ensuite Bed and Breakfast Rooms provide the location for a perfect escape and have been awarded 4 AA stars. We look forward to welcoming you with us.

Good Pub Guide Recommended

Clifftop views from terrace and some bedrooms
Perched on low cliffs within yards of the shore, the relaxed waterside terrace here enjoys terrific Solent views – not surprisingly it's a very popular summer destination (service can slow down at peak times) and the picnic-sets fill up quickly, so do arrive early for a table; the dining area and some of the bedrooms share the same views. Inside it's roomier than you might expect and is done out in an almost parlourish style, with lots of yachting memorabilia, old local photographs and a blazing winter fire; darts, dominoes and cribbage. Goddards Fuggle-Dee-Dum, Greene King IPA and Sharps Doom Bar are on handpump, with a dozen wines by the glass, 16 malt whiskies and good coffee.

After forming an orderly queue by the food bar on
on the dot of 12 noon we had a excellent Brie and bacon
baguette with a side order of chips. The staff were helpful
and friendly - the lady who served us had to fend off customers
who claimed she was australian. She was born locally!
