Attractive country pub with beams and huge flagstones, real ales, popular food and seats in the back garden; bedrooms
Good Pub Guide Recommended
The bar at this nicely run beamed inn has a relaxed country kitchen feel with wheelback chairs and pine tables on huge flagstones and a woodburning stove. Friendly staff serve Butcombe Rare Breed, Wriggle Valley Gold, Yeovil Star Gazer and a weekly guest beer on handpump and there's a fair choice of wines. Popular with locals, the snug has a leather sofa near another woodburner and stools against the counter; dogs are allowed in here. The airy dining room has more wheelback chairs around pale wooden tables on stripped floorboards and a small open fire. At the back, a delightful garden has picnic-sets and a view over fields. The comfortable bedrooms overlook the old church.
