Cleverly reconstructed low-beamed dining pub made to look old using original timbers and reclaimed oak, scrubbed pine tables and country-kitchen chairs, rag-finished paintwork, some clever lighting, open fire, Batemans, Black Sheep and Marstons, over two dozen wines by the glass, good popular food from breakfast onwards, decent coffee and daily papers, helpful friendly staff; children welcome, dogs in bar, seats on flowery terrace, open all day from 8am

I really love this pub. The service is very friendly - note lots of locals popping in for a post work drink. Food served all day, which is a bonus if you're out and about and don't want to be clock watching. Good restaurant quality cuisine. Well worthy of food award.

Busy large pub in small village. Very friendly and welcoming service. Excellent food even when arriving for a very late lunch. Good wine list.

Still one of the very best. Always a courteously friendly welcome. Well kept beer. Now that there is no smoking you can sit comfortably in the bar and have just one dish.
