Excellent, welcoming pub. Consistently excellent beer, good food including great range of veggie options. Open all day, which is a huge bonus if you're out walking and can't time your walk to arrive at lunchtime or after 7pm (especially in winter when it's dark by 5). They do food all afternoon so you can have a late lunch or early dinner. Always a fire burning in winter. Picturesque without being at all twee, and in a beautiful setting. We've been visiting once or twice a year for 7 years and it's always worth it.

Good, imaginative veggie choices.

Attractive country pub in pleasant village. Popular with walkers - we were encouraged to keep our muddy boots on in lower bar area. Couple of good real ales and good selection of food including regular special offers e.g. 3 courses for £10. Nice open fire and friendly landlord.
Walks are organised regularly by the pub to include lunch.
