Popular and unexpectedly individual pub, three interesting little front cubicle rooms (essentially unchanged since 1860s) with wooden partitions and impressive frosted and engraved glass, mirrored corridor to spacious back room, well liked bar food (all day), Fullers, Greene King, Timothy Taylors and up to four guests, quieter upstairs bar (children welcome here) overlooking pedestrianised street, theatrical photographs, newspapers; piped music, machines; open all day (till midnight Fri, Sat)

Yesterday my two friends and I visited this Nicholsons pub in the centre of London. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. There were seven real ales on offer. We all had the Sharps Doombar, which was very excellent. To eat we all had the steak and ale pie, which was very good. Despite being very busy the service was very good and all the staff were friendly and efficient. We all agreed that this pub deserves to be in the main section in future publications.

If you find yourself at Oxford Circus in need of a drink or food, this pub is a much better alternative to the fast food chains and greasy spoons which prevail in the area. It gets very busy, but then it is just off one of the busiest shopping streets in the world...
