Good Pub Guide Recommended

A good summer pub, with plenty of outdoor seats and a rural feel; nicely reworked inside too, with excellent choice of beers, reliable food, and good live blues on Fridays So verdant is this oasis it's hard to believe you're in London. The outdoor space is the main appeal here, and on fine weekends it can get very busy with families and dogs a big part of the mix. Tables are nicely sheltered under big trees and a pergola, and there are a couple of quirky cow-print sofas under a little verandah by the entrance. The two modernised rooms inside have lots of leather armchairs and sofas and framed period prints and advertisements. The long main bar on the left also has quite a variety of wooden furnishings, including some unusually high tables and stools, and a rather grand dining table at one end; there's a TV for sport, rugs on the polished wooden floor, and an appealing little alcove rather like a private lounge, with a fireplace and a table of newspapers; piped music, TV, board games and occasional quiz and blues nights. The beer range is enterprising - as well as Weltons Semaphore, five regularly changing real ales might be from brewers such as Hammerpots, Sambrooks, St Austell and Tintagel. There's a good wine list too, with about 18 by the glass. The pub is named after the Admiralty telegraph station that used to stand nearby, one of a chain of ten between Chelsea and Portsmouth (on a clear day, a message could be sent between the two in 15 minutes).

A group of us came here for a friends birthday. Great location and food and pub quiz too but all spoilt by rude, surly, incompetent staff, broken equipment and actual pieces of glass in our food!! Will not go back which is a shame as it looks like a great lil pub. Do not recommend.

I have been here on many occasions - great pub with a lovely atmosphere. However last time several members of my party ended up with food poisioning after eating here. The fish was sent back as un-cooked and the burger was still frozen in the middle. Will go back but will be a little more careful with the food.
