Firstly we have to say this is a great pub serving excellant food and beers. We've visited numerous times and will do again.
However, last week we felt a little let down by the staff. Here's our story and you can decide if our opinion is just?
We arrived at midday intending to walk along the river and come back for lunch. We went into the bar to check food serving times and noticing times on the specials menu from 12 to 3pm didn't feel the need to check with staff.
We arrived back at 2.33pm. Ordered drinks and then asked for a menu to be told food had finished. On pointing out the sign clearly states 3pm were told it should have read 2.30pm and the kitchen had already cleared away.
Even though we were only 3 minutes after the time they were working to they wouldn't serve us.
So beware and double check if you plan to eat there after a walk!

This is the second time I and my partner have stayed here and I'm pleased to report standards are as high as ever. Comfortable rooms and beds with gorgeous food - a fillet of Exmoor beef with Exmoor Blue Souffle, sweet potato puree and red wine sauce was a particular highlight. Pleasingly, they do not neglect the bar side of things and they do have a proper, functioning bar which attracts locals and visitors alike.
